Types of WritingPoetry, stories and memoirs are all great examples of what is called the kinds of writing. Stories and poetry can be read aloud, told from one point of view, told from several perspectives or told in a combination of these three styles.A story told from one point of view is the memoir. This is more akin to writing as what used to be known as fiction, although the presentation is different. If you are a person who uses stories and poetry to tell your life story or to add to it, then you would be looking at what is called the kind of writing.The second kind of writing is the literature. The literature is defined as any piece of writing that is published. For instance, when you publish a story or poem in a magazine, this is literature. When you publish a short story in your book, blog or other journal, this is literature.The third kind of writing is known as the type of writing. This is known as the literary. When you publish a short story in a magazine, this is the kind of writing.Of course, the most common example of the literary type of writing is the novel. Most writers would agree that the novel is the best form of writing. Even so, when it comes to publishing your short story or poem you may not want to consider that the novel is the best way to go.Just like creative types of writing, there are ways to be published in short fiction and poetry. For instance, if you have won a prize for an essay, you may be able to use that to your advantage by giving your story to one of the literary magazines.It may also be possible to publish your poem or short story to a literary magazine. There are many literary magazines, such as Poets & Writers. Each literary magazine will have guidelines for authors who want to submit their work.Another way to get published in a literary magazine is to submit a letter or article about yourself. Because of the advertising, marketing and the competition, many literary magazines will accept unsolicited letters or articles on an ongoing basis. If you are trying to publish your story or poem, short fiction or any other form of literary writing, then you will need to be aware of these types of writing.
